Aerial Hoop
Aerial Hoop
A versatile equipment, loved by aerialists and audiences alike!
Hoop (lyra) is one of the core pieces of equipment for aerialists. This apparatus is incorporated into our children’s circus classes and adults can learn at beginners, intermediate and advanced levels on a drop in or subscription basis.
Lessons in aerial hoop will help to build strength and stamina as well as overall confidence. While still providing plenty of scope to challenge students, hoop is a more accessible equipment than silks as it provides more opportunities for rest poses and support from the apparatus. It can take a bit of perseverance to get used to discomfort that can be caused by the pressure of the metal hoop, but this pays off as beginners can quickly learn beautiful and impressive moves, which can be joined together into combo and routines.
At Essex Circus Academy, we have a wide range of sizes of 0 point / tabless aerial hoops from children’s 75cm to 105cm for taller adults. This means that we can cater to ages 4+ for this discipline. We’re lucky to have fantastic height, meaning that as standard hoops are set up with a swivel and 2m strop, allowing for spinning and strop work to be incorporated as standard into our aerial hoop classes.
